The Water Museum
The Water Museum
The water sources in this traditional village, which is beautiful, are crucial for the entire region of Rethymno. The small museum of hydraulic propulsion created by George Vougioukalakis features miniature machines that operate with the power of water. Water is undoubtedly one of nature's greatest treasures, and it has accompanied man in many tasks. It is still an essential way to generate energy for grinding fruit, washing clothes, and making gunpowder. The museum's owner and creator will present all of this to us in their own unique way. We won't be untouched by surprises, as only the Cretans can do it!
An Ancestral Art
Are you prepared to travel back in time? A brief demonstration will allow you to discover the Cretan weaving methods that have been passed down from generation to generation. Before that, we will be walking through the village. It is filled with ancient and modern cultural traces. The village is home to the remnants of the ancient city, Roman remains, Venetian buildings with stunning portals, and Byzantine churches. The Agia Dynami springs are a popular sight in the area, where water gushes from everywhere.
